Summertime Blues

I can't believe the kids only have 3 more weeks of summer vacation.  I feel like we didn't even begin to do what I had expected to get done!  We started the Spanish Rosetta Stone course, but a couple of weeks into it we went out of town and never picked it back up again.  I keep thinking I will just start it again and not worry about the kids doing it with me.  We have made a couple of day visits with friends that I don't get to see and talk to very often.  My friend Heather lives a mile away and for some reason we only see each other a couple times a year.  We planned a pool day at her house with a pizza party.  I laughed so hard at some of our old stories and had a great time catching up with her.  The following week we made a trip up to Jamestown to visit the Tuckers.  They also are friends we don't see very often.  We had a good day of catching up and talking about how we both are staying at home with kids and trying to get back to work.  It's amazing to find out that everyone is going through the same old mess when it comes to applying for a job, interviewing, and then not getting the job!  It is so aggravating.  I have put in 100s of applications since notification of my lay off back in January.  I have only had 4 interviews and none of the jobs ended up working out for one reason or another.  I have never felt this unwanted!  I have learned however what it is like to have to fill the role of stay at home mom.  I love my kids, and I love my home, but I have figured out that this is no life for me.  I so want to be back to work!  I realize that when you are at home you have all the time in the world to do stuff and so you never structure the time well.  It is totally true that the busier you are the more efficient you are.  At least when I was away from home 10 hours a day I knew exactly what I had to do to keep everything up and running.  Now that I am at home I think about things and say, well I will take care of that one day...  Haha! It's crazy!

We enjoyed our bowls of cereal every morning on our screened porch overlooking the lake and pool area.
